Partisans redo 1.jpg

Preface

When creating this page, I wondered why this was such an unknown piece of history. Being someone who has much interest in World War II; as well as history in general I knew very little about this. I wondered why in all the things about partisan units I saw or read there was no mentions of Jewish partisans. Once doing some research and coming across a wealth of information regarding Jewish partisan units as well as Jewish partisans who fought with other units I began to think about several things. How successful were these armed units? Did they make a meaningful impact in the war? How were they treated during and after the war by fellow partisan units and new national governments? How did they live and subsist in the wilderness?

Introduction

World War II was a time in turmoil in the world. During the Period from 1939-1945 millions of men and women would lose their lives. In the background of the war was many atrocities would occur the worst among them being a secondary war of Jewish extermination led by the German High command and army. Partisans from many nations conquered by Germany would rise up and defend their homelands. Among Jewish men and women would rise up to defend their countries and save their people.  The number of these partisans in their own units or other mixed partisan units is substantial numbering in the thousands.
